Well, hello!
My name is Anna Geiger. Iโm a former teacher (M.Ed.) and mom of six.
I was a balanced literacy advocate for twenty years. As both a classroom teacher and teacher educator, I promoted three-cueing using leveled texts. I taught phonics, but I didnโt use a scope and sequence. I provided very little direct instruction because I was sure it would bore my students.
Fast-forward to 2019, when I realized that many of my teaching practices werenโt backed by research. After my initial grieving period, I dug in to learn what evidence-based instruction truly looks like. (Turns out a structured approach isnโt boring after all!) Today, my mission is to create and share resources that make research-based teaching simple and help you teach reading with confidence.
Iโm currently enrolled in a PhD in Literacy program so I can get even better at translating the research for busy teachers like you.
